College of the Redwoods’ Dental Assisting program offers a fast and comprehensive pathway to a rewarding career in the dental field. Designed to be completed in just two semesters, this program equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to excel as dental assistants. What sets this program apart is its emphasis on hands-on experience, providing students the unique opportunity to work directly with patients in the on-campus Dental Health Center under the supervision of licensed dentists. Furthermore, students gain practical experience through internships at private practices, specialty clinics, or government facilities. The curriculum is designed to provide training in both front and back office procedures, along with a robust understanding of various dental specialties. As the only nationally accredited and state-approved community college program of its kind in the region, College of the Redwoods sets its graduates up for success by preparing them for both the Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) and Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) exams, opening doors to employment opportunities across the country.
