Tallahassee Community College’s Dental Assisting program is a comprehensive Applied Technology Diploma designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for a successful career in dental assisting. The 50-credit-hour program prepares students for certification and enables them to perform legally delegated duties under the supervision of a dentist in Florida. A key focus is preparing students to excel on the Dental Assisting National Board Exam. With a strong emphasis on quality patient care, the program provides hands-on clinical practice and lab experience, including training in expanded functions and dental radiology. Furthermore, selected articulated courses provide a direct pathway for students wishing to continue their education in dental hygiene. Admission is limited to ensure a high-quality learning environment and the program begins in the Fall. Upon graduation, students receive a diploma and an expanded functions certificate, making them immediately employable and highly competitive in the dental assisting field.
