Central Oregon Community College’s Dental Assisting program offers a comprehensive one-year certificate designed to launch students into fulfilling healthcare careers. Rooted in compassionate care, the program is housed in the cutting-edge Health Careers Center and uniquely features a dental lab that serves as both a learning environment and a community clinic. With a new cohort of students admitted each fall, the program’s curriculum blends online, in-person, and hybrid instruction to cater to diverse schedules. Students gain extensive practical skills through hands-on practicums in local dental offices, learning essential procedures and mastering 60 core competencies, encompassing both technical expertise and essential soft skills. The program’s strong emphasis on practical experience and community engagement, coupled with its accreditation, prepares graduates for professional licensure and opportunities to expand their skills through EFDA and EFODA certifications. COCC also offers a transfer degree with a pre-dental hygiene focus.
