The Dental Assistant program at Fortis Institute equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel as integral members of a dental healthcare team. This program combines classroom instruction with hands-on training in a simulated dental office setting, allowing students to learn and practice essential chairside assisting techniques. Students will gain proficiency in areas such as dental terminology, radiography, sterilization, infection control, dental materials, and office administration. A key component of the program is a clinical externship, providing students with valuable real-world experience in a dental office and networking opportunities with working dental professionals. Generally, the Dental Assistant program length is approximately one year. Upon successful completion, graduates are prepared to pursue entry-level positions as dental assistants in various settings, including general dentistry practices, specialty dental clinics, and public health facilities.
