Sacramento City College’s Dental Assisting program offers a comprehensive, full-time day curriculum designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career in the field. Admitting students each August, the program is meticulously structured and accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of dental education. Upon completion, students earn an Associate of Science Degree in Dental Assisting and become eligible to sit for both the National Board Examination to become Certified Dental Assistants and the Dental Board of California examination for state licensure as Registered Dental Assistants. The program covers a wide array of topics, from biodental science and chairside assisting to patient assessment and dental radiology. Graduates will be well-prepared for employment in various settings, including private dental offices, hospitals, clinics, and dental schools, contributing to patient care through restorations, x-rays, and preventive services.
