The Dental Assisting Certificate program, a collaboration between North Central State College and Madison Adult Career Center, offers a streamlined path to a rewarding career in dental healthcare. This comprehensive program, designed as a FLEX offering with evening courses, equips students with the essential skills and knowledge needed to excel as dental assistants. Through a series of coordinated courses – DENT 1010, DENT 1030, and DENT 1050 – students delve into areas such as dental anatomy, infection control, chairside assistance, radiography, and dental office procedures. The curriculum is carefully aligned with the Ohio Dental Board requirements, preparing students to pursue Dental Radiographer licensure and the Ohio Dental Assistant certification. A key component is the practicum, providing invaluable hands-on experience working directly with a dentist. Completion of the certificate also creates opportunities for advancement, as the credits earned can be applied towards a Health Services Technology Associate Degree.
