The Dental Assisting program at Harcum College provides students with the comprehensive knowledge and practical skills needed to excel as integral members of a dental healthcare team. This program is designed to equip graduates with the expertise to assist dentists during a variety of procedures, manage dental office operations, and ensure a comfortable and safe environment for patients. Students learn essential chairside assisting techniques, master dental radiography, understand and implement strict infection control protocols, and become proficient in the use of dental materials. The curriculum also emphasizes dental office management, including scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and handling insurance claims. Through hands-on clinical experiences, students gain invaluable real-world experience, working alongside dental professionals to hone their skills and build confidence. Completion of the program typically leads to eligibility for the Radiation Health and Safety Examination (RHS) for radiology certification and prepares graduates to sit for the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) exam. Graduates are well-prepared for entry-level positions as dental assistants in general dentistry, specialty dental practices, and public health clinics.
